Lesley Dabson
Lesley always loved to draw and was
awarded the school’s art prize in her final year at Solihull School. She gained
an Honours degree in Graphic Design at Coventry University in the early 1980’s,
after which she took portrait commissions.
After a break to raise
her family Lesley returned to Fine Art, and took a course in oil painting in
London in 2008. To paint in oils has been a life long desire and so it was a
thrill to finally start. Lesley continues to study life drawing at
both the Shoreditch and Kensington Palace studios of the Princes Drawing School,
London.
Lesley enjoys exploring different areas in her work, land
and seascapes, still life and figure work, mainly in oil or chalk pastel. Her
favourite subjects are water, boats and figures and her style is predominantly
representational. Lesley’s has had work accepted for exhibit with the Royal
Society of Marine Artists, The Women’s Society of Artists and the Royal
Institute of Oil Painters at the Mall Galleries. She has regularly exhibited
with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and at the Chelsea Art Society
Annual Open.
