Mark paints Westcountry landscapes, mostly in watercolour and often directly from nature. Mark started painting as a way of recording sights seen in the years he spent travelling after graduating from university. On his return to the UK he settled in South Devon where he decided to take up painting full time, improving and honing his watercolour technique by studying the work of Masters like Turner and Cotman.
Mark loves camping and the outdoor life and uses a fisherman’s tent for shelter when painting on the exposed moors and his old Canadian canoe when exploring the creeks and backwaters in and around the local coastline.
In 2003 Mark moved to a ten acre small-holding in North Cornwall where he and his wife Angela now live, complete with vegetable garden, chickens, geese and bees! Overlooking Bodmin Moor and being just a few miles from the wonderful rugged Cornish coastline Mark believes he lives in the perfect place for a landscape artist.
