John Donaldson is a highly accomplished artist and musician. His creativity is evident from his original art; beautiful compositions of landscapes painted in vibrant, expressive colours. John remembers watching his grandfather paint watercolours, unable to recall a time in his life when he didn't paint and doesn't believe he ever made a conscious decision to become an artist, it was something he grew up doing and still enjoys to this day. He now splits his time between the West Country and France and cites Provence, the Cote d'Azur, Liguria, Umbria and Tuscany as some of his favourite places to paint original art. When asked to describe his work John recognises that his paintings are not easily labelled but feels his work is best described under the heading "impressionist" in that there is no hidden meaning behind his work, he simply wants to communicate the beauty of a fleeting moment by being honest about what he sees and hoping someone else will identify with his interpretation of that moment, which is parallel to what early impressionist painters were trying to achieve.
