Devon County Show: May 19th-21st

If you’re looking for things to do in Devon, you’ll be pleased to hear that the acclaimed Devon County Show is taking place in just a few days, on between May 19th and 21st.

There’s always so much going on over the three days that you’ll have a very action-packed weekend indeed. This year, there’s a short film about the Shetland Pony Grand National (which looks very interesting indeed!), a dog show, horses and showjumping, lots of delicious local food and drink on offer and entertainment provided by the likes of BBC South West and Devon Eye.

As for kids, there couldn’t be anywhere better to take them. There’s a children’s farm where your youngsters can see calves and lambs being fed, chicks being hatched, ducklings, cows being milked and bread being baked. You can also watch as they learn how to make their own butter and bread dough, as well as pressing apple juice and planting seeds.

Of course, you may not want to spend your entire weekend at the show and if that’s the case, then what about devoting a few hours to wandering around one of the beautiful art galleries that can be found in Devon?

Why not take some time to browse our exhibits at the Mayne Gallery in Kingsbridge, South Devon. The gallery regularly holds events and exhibitions, as well as exhibiting at art fairs all over the UK, showcasing some of the best in the contemporary art world. For example, on May 21st the Mayne @ 20 Exhibition will showcase new work by Howard Birchmore, John Donaldson and Peter Hill, and sculptures by Peter Hearsey.
