North Devon Beaches Claim Awards

When searching for what’s on in Devon, you should certainly consider popping off to one of the many beautiful beaches in this part of the world – some of which have just claimed some serious national and international awards.

According to the North Devon Gazette, the beach at Westward Ho! has just been given a Blue Flag award, while Keep Britain Tidy has handed both Combe Martin and Croyde beaches a Seaside Award each.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Paul Todd was quoted by the news source as saying: “It is great that we have been able to award more beaches this year with Blue Flag and Seaside Awards. As an environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy is committed to improving the quality of the places where people live, work and holiday and these winners have proved their commitment to providing the best possible beaches for locals and visitors alike.”

Of course, while North Devon has some beautiful beaches, so too does South Devon. The coastline in this part of the county is seriously stunning so if you do find yourself in this magical part of the world make sure you visit Dawlish Warren (a renowned wildlife centre as well), River Beach in Teignmouth and Bigbury on Sea where you’ll find Burgh Island.

Whether you’re looking for delightful sandy stretches or pebble beaches, you’ll find all you want and more in Devon – which is absolutely perfect at the moment since forecasters are now predicting that we’ll have the hottest summer in 40 years. Prime time for a visit to the beach!
