What To Do On The Water In Dartmouth

On holiday down south and currently looking for things to do in Devon? Then make your way to Dartmouth so you can spend a glorious few days splashing about in the river. Here are five ideas for fun river-based activities.

Sea kayaking

Explore the river and local coastline by sea kayak, a really interesting way of getting to know this beautiful part of the world. Make sure you take time out to explore the different sea caves to be found here.

The Picnic Boat

Book yourself a romantic trip for two on the Picnic Boat, which will take you along the River Dart – with a delicious picnic in tow. What could be better for a day out in Devon?

If you’ve never tried paddleboarding before, your holiday in south Devon is the perfect time to try it. It’s great exercise and a lot of fun, and the River Dart is the perfect place to try it for the first time.

One of the most entertaining things you can do along the river edge is go crabbing, perfect if you have small children in tow on your holiday as well. Just get yourself some bait, fishing line and a bucket, then head off to the pontoon to see how many crabs you can catch. Just put them back in the water when you’re done.

Paddle steamer

Book yourself a place on the only coal-fired paddle steamer in the UK, which will take you up and down the river between Dartmouth and Totnes. A great day out for all the family!
