Enjoy A Cultural Trip To Devon With Chudleigh's Literary Festival

Many people flock to South Devon during the summertime to enjoy a cultural break, taking in an art gallery in Devon, a food fair or a sailing race.

Something else that is well worth getting involved in the Chudleigh Literary Festival, organised by the Chudleigh Writers’ Circle (CWC) in association with Friends of Chudleigh Library.

It will take place on Wednesday July 6th at Chudfest Marquee behind the church in Chudleigh, Newton Abbot.

This will be the literary festival’s sixth year, and it includes a programme of events and activities that will interest book fans.

From 09:30, CWC will host a writing workshop, allowing those who fancy themselves a budding author to practice their skills and pick up tips from local writer Elizabeth Ducie.

After this, there will be lunch in the marquee at 12:30 and an open mic, giving you the opportunity to listen to some fabulous literary works. You might even be tempted to recount some for yourself!

At 14:00, there will be the chance to network with other writers. Hopeful authors from across the south-west of England come to the festival to chat with like-minded individuals about the process and challenges of writing and publishing.

Tea and cakes are served at this point, so literary fans who are not confident about their writing abilities are welcome to stay for this too.

The literary event is being held as part of Chudfest, an education and arts festival held in Chudleigh. Included in the schedule of events being held over the summer are the Beach Party on July 2nd, Produce and Garden Show on August 20th, and the popular Summer Festival, being held between July 1st and 10th.
