Gerry Miles

Gerry spent his childhood in a small country village in the heart of the Hampshire Downs, which had a strong influence on his artistic development, in particular his landscape painting. Gerry's preferred medium is Acrylic on board, but he also works in watercolour, gouache and pastels. He strives to capture nature’s fleeting and illusive moods and atmospheres and is fascinated by the play of light, the nuance of tones, the affects of aerial perspective in creating depth and the subtle contribution of colour harmony to the ambience of the scene

He has a passion for painting, deep-sea diving, photography, filming and hiking and his time is now divided between his family home in the Netherlands and his second home in Hope Cove in the South Hams. When in the Netherlands he works on dive paintings. In South Devon landscape paintings take the forefront.

He discovered the South West in the 1960's and has documented his many visits, painting local views, which he has now compiled into a book. This beautiful portfolio, depicting the artwork by Gerry also features directions for both well worn and less trodden local walks, ideal for exploring the amazing scenery in and around the area.
