Pair of Parakeets, 2025

by Danni Bradford Size: H: 65cms x W: 65cms (26" x 26") Verre-Eglomise -Reverse painted and gilded in 24Kt gold leaf into two glass panels a common sight in the suburban parks of London the 'Kingston Parakeets' are a non-native, feral, thriving colony that are loved and hated here in the UK. Parakeets are normally found in India and Africa and no one really knows, exactly, how the parakeet population began in London, but there are many theories. Including they may have started due to a pair that escaped during the filming of 'The African Queen' in 1951 at EalingStudios. Or maybe it was the pair that were released in Carnaby Street by Jimi Hendriix!?
