Emma’s journey as a contemporary British painter and The Island Artist has led to incredible opportunities. She has been featured in Netflix’s Travels with My Father (filmed on Burgh Island) and Channel 4’s “The Best of British by the Sea” in May 2022. In 2023, MGV Productions created two cinematic short films about Emma, showcasing her life, her love affair with Burgh Island, and the English Riviera.
Her work has been commissioned by major brands, including the Mercure Hotel and Ibis Hotel groups, who showcased her talent in their spaces. Emma’s art has also appeared in esteemed publications like The Times, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Vogue, Coast Magazine, and more.
Her vibrant, expressive style continues to captivate collectors, designers, and public spaces worldwide. Emma’s art is regularly exhibited in galleries across the South West, where her solo shows and commissions are treasured by discerning art lovers and those seeking to bring a touch of the wild into their own lives.
"The wild, untamed beauty of the South West has always been my greatest muse—stormy seas, fierce winds, rugged coastlines, and the ancient, mossy woodlands that pulse with life and history.
Some of my happiest moments are spent wandering South Hams beaches, ancient pathways, or woodland trails—alone or with loved ones, in every season. These landscapes have shaped my soul and sparked my imagination since childhood.
Burgh Island, in particular, holds my heart. It’s a place of deep personal connection, where I return with my family and find endless inspiration. Standing just 200 meters from the mainland, it feels like an entirely different world—an island steeped in mystery, storytelling, and the whispers of ancient mariners. Many will recognise its magic, but as an artist, I am drawn to its essence more than most. It’s why I call myself “The Island Artist.”
I am captivated by the hidden, untouched beaches where I swim on hazy summer days, and the wide, dramatic skies of winter that seem to stretch into infinity. These moments—the rhythm of the tides, the interplay of light, and the wildness of nature—drive my work.
I dream.
I reflect.
And then, I paint.
Every piece I create begins with love—a deep connection to the natural, wild places I revisit time and again. My aim is to capture that free-spirited essence we all crave in a world that can sometimes feel far too ordinary. Through expressive brushstrokes, ragged textures, or even the sweep of my hands on canvas, I translate emotion into art. For me, painting is both a release and a celebration of all that ties us to nature and the unrestrained beauty of life.
There are a thousand more paintings waiting inside me, all inspired by this wild world I hold so dear. My greatest hope is to live long enough to paint them all, to continuously challenge myself as an artist, and to share that spirit of freedom with others."
