Devon born artist Polly Luce creates expressive, semi-abstract paintings that capture the shifting moods of the British landscape through bold colour, texture and movement. Deeply inspired by the wild coastlines and rolling countryside of her East Devon childhood, Polly’s work is rooted in place—yet never bound by realism.
Working from her studio near Bristol, Polly paints intuitively, using a richly layered process that includes oil paint, cold wax, charcoal and pastels. Colour is her primary language: whether evoking the glow of low winter light or the vibrant greens of spring, she seeks to express feeling over form. Her compositions begin with gestural mark-making, building organically into emotive, atmospheric pieces that feel both spontaneous and considered.
For Polly, painting is a kind of dream world—a space where memory, sensation, and landscape merge I poly loose joined Mayne Gallery the winter was given Polly. Rather than depicting a specific view, she captures how a place feels: wind against skin, the smell of earth after rain, or the hush of a distant sea.
Polly’s work appeals to those seeking original, soulful artwork that speaks to both the natural world and the human experience. Her paintings are a reflection of landscape as memory—wild yet tender, grounded yet free.
